Fine Art Paper
The Premium Choice
Velvet/matte finish, 285gsm, 17 mil, Aqueous printing
Best For: Digital paintings, illustrations, and "Gallery-Style" decor.
The Feel: Thick, heavy-weight, and soft-textured.
Why You’ll Love It: It has a velvet matte finish that mimics the look of an original painting. It’s our thickest paper, designed for those who want their AI art to look like it belongs in a museum.

Semi-Gloss Paper
Crowd Favorite
Gloss/satin finish, 230gsm, 222 micron, latex printing
Best For: High-contrast photography, vibrant colors, and modern art.
The Feel: Bright white with a smooth, satin finish.

Best For: Minimalist designs, text-heavy emblems, and budget-friendly framing.
The Feel: Crisp, bright white with a flat matte finish.

Water-Based Poster
The Value Pick
Satin finish, 210gsm, 9 mil, Aqueuous printing
Best For: Temporary displays, large-scale prints, and casual decor.

Paper Prints & Framing FAQ
Whether you are looking for the tactile, gallery-quality feel of Fine Art paper, the high-energy vibrance of Semi-Gloss, or a budget-friendly Matte Poster, our paper collection is designed to turn your digital content into a physical masterpiece.
At inksie, we believe a print is only as good as the materials behind it. That’s why we’ve curated a selection of archival-grade substrates, UV-resistant GREENGUARD GOLD inks, and hand-finished wood frames. This FAQ is designed to help you navigate our professional surfaces, understand our "Global-Local" production model, and choose the perfect framing options including our popular 2" Gallery Border to ensure your art doesn't just hang on a wall, but defines it.
What is the difference between Fine Art and Semi-Gloss paper?
It comes down to texture and finish. Our Fine Art Paper is a premium, heavy-weight (285 gsm) paper with a soft, velvet/matte texture, making it ideal for art reproductions and "gallery-quality" looks. Semi-Gloss Paper is a bright white photo paper with a satin finish that offers sharp photographic reproduction and vibrant color fidelity, similar to a traditional photo print.
Does my framed print come with a physical mat?
Our frames do not use a separate physical mat board. Instead, we offer a "digital border" (including a 2" option). This is a white border added directly to the printed image area to create the elegant, elevated appearance of a mat without the extra bulk or cost.
Are the framed prints ready to hang out of the box?
Yes! All inksie framed prints arrive ready to hang. Standard Framed Prints (Fine Art & Semi-Gloss) include a wire hanger, paper backing, and rubber bumpers. Economy Framed Prints (Matte Poster) come with a pre-installed sawtooth hanger.
What are the specifications of the frames?
Our frames are crafted from 100% radiata pine (Pinus radiata) wood with a matte black or matte white enamel finish.
- Shatter proof plexi glass
- Depth of frame is 0.75 inch
- Covered paper backing
What is the best file format and resolution for printing?
Our AI generator creates 300dpi PNG and vector (SVG) artwork. For the highest quality results, we recommend:
Resolution: 300 DPI (though we accept 32–300 DPI).
Color Space: Adobe RGB (1998) for artwork or sRGB for photography.
File Type(s): We highly recommend JPEGs saved in the RGB color space. We are work with PNG and SVG.
Is the "glass" in the frame actual glass?
To ensure your art arrives safely and remains durable, we use shatterproof plexiglass or clear acrylic (standard 1/16"). This provides the clarity of glass with much higher durability and safety for shipping.
What makes inksie’s printing "Eco-Friendly"?
We prioritize sustainability through our Global-Local model. By producing your order at the satellite facility closest to you (across 3 continents), we significantly reduce carbon emissions from transit. Additionally, we use UL certified GREENGUARD GOLD inks and offer sustainable matte paper options.
How should I handle my unframed prints?
Our papers are high-quality and sensitive to oils from the skin. We recommend wearing cotton gloves when handling unframed prints (especially Fine Art and Semi-Gloss) to avoid smudges or fingerprints. Unframed prints are shipped in archival plastic bags within protective tubes or envelopes.
Can I get a border on any paper type?
Most of our paper types—Fine Art, Semi-Gloss, and Water-Based Poster—offer a 2" border option. The only exception is the Matte Poster, which is typically offered as "Full Bleed" (edge-to-edge printing) to keep it cost-effective.
How do I clean my framed print?
Maintenance is simple. If the frame or plexiglass gathers dust, simply wipe it down gently with a slightly damp, soft cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could scratch the acrylic surface.
Does inksie have a minimum order requirement?
No. Whether you need a single custom gift or 10,000 items for a major event, we have no minimum order requirements. Our automated systems are built to handle speed and scale with the same level of quality for every single print.
What is "Aqueous" and "Latex" ink?
These refer to the professional-grade printing methods we use. Aqueous (Water-based) inks are used for our Fine Art and Poster prints to achieve deep, rich blacks and fine detail. Latex inks are used for our Semi-Gloss prints; they are extremely durable, scratch-resistant, and offer incredible color pop. Both types are UL GREENGUARD GOLD certified, meaning they meet the world’s most stringent standards for low chemical emissions.
What is the difference between "Full Bleed" and a "Border"?
Full Bleed: Your artwork is printed to the very edge of the paper. This is a modern, high-impact look.
Border: We add a white margin (like our 2" option) around your art. This shifts the image inward, creating a "gallery-matted" look and protecting your art from being hidden by the frame's edge.
Can I print in CMYK?
While our printers use a variety of ink colors, our system is optimized for RGB files. We highly recommend saving your JPEGs in the sRGB or Adobe RGB color space. If you submit a CMYK file, we will assessment it in the sRGB color space to ensure the most accurate translation to our ink sets.
How thick is the paper?
Thickness varies by the "vibe" of the print:
- Fine Art: 17 mil (Our thickest, most substantial paper).
- Water-Based Poster: 8 mil.
- Semi-Gloss: 7.4 mil. (Note: 1 mil = 1/1000th of an inch).
Why did my order ship from a different country?
It likely didn't! inksie uses a Global-Local model. We have 11 production centers across 3 continents. When you place an order, our system automatically routes it to the facility closest to you. This ensures faster delivery, lower shipping costs, and a significantly smaller carbon footprint.
What is "GSM" and why does it matter?
GSM stands for Grams per Square Meter. It measures the weight/density of the paper. A higher GSM (like our 285 gsm Fine Art paper) feels heavier and more "archival," while a lower GSM (like our 180 gsm Semi-Gloss) is lighter and more flexible, perfect for high-quality posters.
What is "Archival Quality"?
Our Fine Art paper is considered archival because it is made of 25% cotton linters and 75% alpha cellulose. It is acid-free and designed to last for decades without yellowing or fading, especially when paired with our UV-resistant GREENGUARD inks.
Is the wood used for the frames sustainable?
Yes. Our frames are made from 100% radiata pine wood. We choose materials and efficient production methods that balance durability and quality with a commitment to reducing environmental impact.
Can I order 10,000 prints for a commercial event?
Absolutely. While we love the "power of one" (no minimums!), our facilities are built for scale. We utilize the latest automation technologies to ensure that whether you order 1 print or 10,000, the quality remains standardized and consistent across the entire run.
